Woodford County

The county was formed from a part of of the original Fayette County in Virginia in 1788. It was named for William Woodford who was an American Revolutionary War General from the state of Virginia who died while a prisoner of war in 1780.Woodford County was the last of the original nine counties established which were formed when the Commonwealth of Kentucky became established in 1792. Woddford County has a total populaion count of almost 25,000 residents with a total area of 192 square miles.
