Fleming County was first established in 1798 from land given by Mason County. The first courthouse that may have possibly been made of logs, was replaced in 1830 and again in 1952 thus losing records and files of the counties’ history in the process. Named after former and early Kentucky settler John Fleming and sitting at 351 square miles, Fleming County is home to 14,581 residents.
